Saw Palmetto is a small hardy fan palm whose stem usually remains below ground or runs just along the surface. The fruits are
round, black when ripe and about an inch in diameter.
Saw palmetto, is the sole species currently classified in the genus Serenoa. It has been known by a number of synonyms, including Sabal serrulatum, under which name it still often appears in alternative medicine. It is a small palm, normally reaching a height of around 2–4 m (3–6 ft). Its trunk is sprawling, and it grows in clumps or dense thickets in sandy coastal lands or as undergrowth in pine woods or hardwood hammocks.
It is endemic to the southeastern United States, most commonly along the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal plains, but also as far inland as southern Arkansas. It is a hearty plant; extremely slow growing, and long lived, with some plants, especially in Florida, possibly being as old as 500-700 years.

Hair loss is most prevalent as we age, can affect both men and women and factors such as genetics, hormone changes and medical conditions can play a part.
We most commonly suffer from hair loss when our DHT hormone levels are increased. DHT is a sex hormone we get by converting testosterone and it regulates sex organs and body fat. Product seems just fine. No unpleasant taste, mixes well enough with liquids. Is said to be good for our skin (women), and prostate support for men. I take saw palmetto for prostate health (being 75 years old). I’ve taken various brands of capsules over the years with varying success, and I’m happy to say that this seems to be the best so far. I’ve noticed a more marked improvement over any capsules I’ve tried. I use the little scoop (filled to rounded) and add this to my morning shake, and I don’t notice much of a change in the flavor. The aroma from the open package is somewhere between feet and unsweetened chocolate powder, but it is the chocolate favor of which I catch hints. Mind you, I add lots of other stuff (including several 911healty products) to my shake, the largest portion of which is frozen berries of differing varieties and almond milk. Anyone looking for prostate/urination relief should give this one a try.

I have been taking this supplement once a day for a little over a month now and I am starting to notice a difference in my hair growth. I feel like my hair is growing “faster” than usual and I do see small hairs growing in areas where it was thinning due to trauma. Almost like a slight coffee flavor (never had coffee so I don’t actually know what it tastes like but if I had to imagine how coffee brings out the flavor of chocolate….) After reading some of the bad reviews about the taste, I expected the worst. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that this has very little taste at all. So far I’ve put it in coffee and orange juice and wasn’t able to taste it at all. If anything, the powder itself has a very sort of mild earthy, unsweetened cocoa taste but certainly not offensive. I just started using the product so I’ll come back with a review on the prostate thing, but I doubt I’ll hold the vendor responsible since it’s my choice to take an unproven treatment. But the product itself is 1000mg dose of pure, unadulterated organic Saw Palmetto whereas some of the capsules on the market are just junk and fillers and some have been outed to have very little to no Saw Palmetto present at all. So from that standpoint, I’m happy with my purchase.

I no longer get up at night to urinate and this product has provided me the best results are there any Saul Palmetto 911healty I have purchased. Downside it taste horrible so you have to fine creative ways to take it. For some reason I found if you fill a shot glass with almond milk mix in the product and drink it down.

I started taking this a year ago to see if it would help my thinning hair. I eat healthy, work out, but my hair…!!! It was still getting thin! I read an article about saw palmetto not only for men but women. So, I gave it a shot. After about 3 weeks I noticed my hair was not falling out nearly as much. About 3 months ago I stopped taking it each day and after about 2 months I noticed my hair coming out a lot in the shower. I’ve started up again and after about a week I notice my hair is not coming out like it was when I was “off” it. I think the saw palmetto tastes disgusting – not sure on the reviews that say it has no taste – I think it’s gag worthy. So, here is how I cover the taste. I put it in homemade nutmilk in my Vitamix. (You have to have a blendtec or Vitamix for this recipe – for some reason it won’t work in any traditional blender, I’ve tried) Start with: 1/4 cup raw cashews, 1 date, 1 TBS hemp seed – blend on high for 2 min. Then I add 1 TBS of raw cacao, and a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon as well as a dash of mineral salt and raw honey or maple syrup. Sometimes I add less water and add coffee or Teeccino instead to make a truly satisfying “latte”. Oh, and coconut butter or MCT oil is delish in here too. Of course I add the serving size of my saw palmetto and I’m set. I don’t even need lunch after this calorie dense drink. The consistency is just like a real latte made with milk. You can use most kinds of raw nuts – but almond skins will make it grainy. I’ve enjoyed the creaminess of the raw cashews.
