What is Acacia Confusa?
Acacia has been used in medicines, baking ingredients, tools, and woodwork for centuries. It has a long history in civilizations as ancient as the Egyptians and the aboriginal tribes of Australia. These kingdoms and tribes used acacia in surprisingly diverse ways, from making desserts to treating hemorrhoids.
Acacia still sits on grocery store shelves in crushed, ground, and whole form. The name Acacia itself refers to a genus of plant that includes many different types of plants, such as trees and shrubs. They can be used in a variety of applications. The acacia that you can buy today may come from one or more of these species. Most of the time, the acacia in food or medicine is Acacia senegal Willd. This type of acacia is usually in Powder form.

Promotes Oral Health
The extract of a species of acacia known as Acacia, sometimes called black khair, can be used in dental products like mouthwash to prevent gingivitis. Powdered acacia can also be used in a type of herbal toothpaste that’s been shown to clean teeth without being too abrasive to the surface of your teeth. An older studyTrusted Source from 1999 showed that this herbal tooth powder cleaned and cleared well over two-thirds of tooth plaque, and nearly 100 percent in some cases.
Relieves Pain and Irritation or Treating Hemorrhoids
Acacia gum has a naturally sticky texture. Materials with this property are often used to reduce irritation and inflammation. The Acacia Confusa has been shown to be especially effective in easing stomach or throat discomfort or Hemorrhoids.
Good Source of Fiber
Acacia contains water-soluble dietary fibers (WSDF) that are not only good fiber for your diet but also helpful in keeping your cholesterol under control. One study showed that taking 15 grams of acacia in Powder form every day helped manage the concentration of plasma cholesterols in blood. Although published in 1992, this is the most comprehensive study on the effects of acacia on the blood to date. WSDF can also help you maintain a healthy weight and is good for general cardiovascular health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) even made changes to regulations to recognize the beneficial use of acacia as a good fiber source in many popular foods, including cereals, juice, and yogurt.
Helps Wound Healing
Acacia is often used in topical treatments to help wounds heal. Doctors, scientists, and researchers believe that this effect may be due to some of its chemicals, such as alkaloids, glycosides, and flavonoids. In one study, a species of acacia known as Acacia Confusa was tested as part of a topical wound treatment. It led to quicker wound healing than the standard treatment. Another study suggested that acacia may also help heal ulcers.
Soothes Coughs and Sore Throats
Because it’s known to relieve irritation and inflammation, acacia can also help control coughs. The properties of acacia allow it to be used in solutions to coat your throat and protect the mucus in your throat from irritation. Using acacia for coughs can keep your throat from becoming sore as well as ease or prevent symptoms, including losing your voice.

This supplement is great!!! I started taking it two days ago and I can already feel a difference. %100 worth every penny. I use a little whisk to mix it into watered down juice. It doesn’t really have much of a taste anyway.

The headline says it all. I add a tablespoon to my smoothie everyday on the theory that extra fiber may somewhat mitigate the effects of the sugar in the fruit that I use to make the green smoothie palatable. It is also supposed to lower one’s cholesterol and contribute to a feeling of fullness. I see no downside, so why not? It has no taste and is not gritty. I used to use organic psyllium which is kind of like saw dust which I never minded, but now I think the acacia is better because of texture.

Taste not that great , but works.

I can’t comment too much on taste because I mix these with my protein shakes which can mask most of any taste. I will say however, I used to use Renew Life Skinny Gut Acacia Fiber per the Negative Calorie Diet book (which I highly highly recommend) and they recently stopped carrying the Renew Life Acacia fiber in most stores. This brand of Acacia fiber has been a wonderful substitute and a staple in my home. I am on my 3rd tub of it so far.
I have noticed a visible reduction in the size of my tummy and bloating, I have noticed a thorough cleaning of my digestive system (which can help prevent cancer), as well as this is a perfect complement to the protein and keeps me full for much longer than the protein by itself. There is no noticeable taste whatsoever (which is perfect for me) and only a very minor grittiness (which is perfectly acceptable and I have also experienced from other brands of fiber because I mix it with thick cold not hot drinks). Hope this helps!

I’m very happy with this product. It’s tasteless, even in a cup of hot tea. Takes a little bit of “smooshing” to get totally 100% absorbed in hot beverages. Also, I’ve just added some to my yogurt and can’t even tell it’s there. Does it make me feel fuller? Probably, but I am taking it in conjunction with other things so can’t say for sure. It’s something I’ll keep taking regardless, as it does keep the system running smoothly and there’s no gassy or bloated side effects. 911healty products have yet to disappoint, and I have learned to trust and lean towards their products when making my selections.

The flavor is subtle. I mix it with 8 ounces of water and drink it immediately. I will definitely continue to order this product.

Acacia is a pre-biotic that feeds pro-biotics. It’s also a natural fiber. I mix a tablespoon of this and a packet of rasberry Emergen-C in water first thing in the morning to start off right. Make sure you mix it with room temp water. For some reason, cold water makes it bind together in lumps. If you mix it with half a glass of room temp water, you can add cold water after it dissolves. It doesn’t get gloopy when it sits like Metamucil. I made the mixture for my daughter before she came down for breakfast one day and she liked it. The next day, she watched me make it & asked me what the fiber was. She said she had no idea it was in there the day before.

Well, I was having some problems with some less than solid trips to the bathroom thanks to some cool new meds I had to take. This stuff got me back to pooping like a pro! It’s not amazing tasting, but it goes down fine and comes out perfectly.

An absolute 5-Star product. I recommend this to anyone who mentions (no matter how casually) that they are or ever have been constipated. As many reviewers have mentioned, it can give you gas. It is recommended that you start slowly and build up the amount you take every day. I started with 1 teaspoon daily, waited until I didn’t have gas from it then increased to 1 teaspoon twice a day. Then 2 in the morning, 1 at night. Then 2 and 2. I slowly built up to taking 2 tablespoons a day (1 in the morning and 1 in the evening). This is 12 grams of fiber a day! It has made my bowels so much more comfortable. I also purchased some for my mother who also takes it daily and recommends it to all of her friends. Very mild taste. I put in a 1-liter water bottle and shake until fully dissolved. When I put in a cup and stir it takes a long time to dissolve and can get a little sticky. Despite this I find it to be a fantastic product and I highly recommend it!

Difficult to fully dissolve in water but stil lis an excellent prebiotic. Now is one of the best brands out there and I have been buying their supplements for many years cause I trust them,

Decided to do keto to lose the COVID weight. Keto binds you up because most fibre-heavy foods aren’t keto. This was one of the few keto-compatible fibre supplements. Definitely fixes the “binds you up” problem.
Josh (verified owner) –
This is a great supplement for those looking to get more fiber because it’s natural and easy to add to smoothies or iced coffee. The reason for only 4 stars is if you try and add it to something hot (like a coffee or a soup) it forms a very gummy paste that is pretty gross.

Works great for my wife! She has had serious complications ever since her gall bladder was removed. This product taken once daily and a good, once daily GNC women’s probiotic supplement have cured her bile gastritis, poor nutrient absorption issues, and chronic bile diarrhea. As long as she takes these regularly her digestion is “normal” like it was before her gall bladder was removed. She was on several bile binding prescriptions for several years previous to trying her current regimen. They were expensive had serious negative side effects and were very expensive. The prescriptions did not work anywhere nearly as well as the three OTC products she uses now.
Acacia fiber doesn’t ferment in your stomach if you have gastroporesis (slow emptying stomach) like my wife got from botched gall bladder surgery that caused stomach (Vagus) nerve damage. All of the grain based fibers will ferment in your stomach making MASSIVE amounts of gas which causes lots of pain and discomfort. Grain based fiber products also irritate your gut if you are sensitive to gluten and other grain proteins/compounds. A lot of people don’t realize they are allergic to gluten/grain. Read the book Grain Brain for more info.
One thing to note if you are in the same boat as my wife with post gall bladder removal syndrome. Patience is your friend. It will take 2-4 weeks of regular use of whatever combination of supplements and digestive aids that YOU FIGURE OUT WORKS FOR YOU. We figured it out by trial and error and many hours spent reading internet articles, web forum posts.

I heard about Acacia Fiber from watching Dr Oz show and he mentioned it as one of the ways to burn fat. He demonstrated that one should add to one’s meals and it will decrease your hunger. It works. I sprinkle it on almost everything I eat and I’ve noticed that I feel content or satisfied and don’t finish all my meal. It almost feels like that other product SENSA only this is Acacia Fiber. I’ve been using this powder since May 4th (for about 2 weeks now) and I feel it works. I’m going to carry some in a portable salt shaker and take in my handbag. I recommend this for anyone that wants to cut back on eating, this does kill your hunger and I’ve noticed less bloating and gas, and does cause natural bowel movement. This works for me. Thanks Dr. Oz. I don’t know that I would have ever used this if I hadn’t heard about it on Dr Oz show. That’s my review and I hope it was clear for those wondering about this product.

I have tried everything under the sun for my IBS-C and then I found Acacia fiber powder. A life changer for me. Slow and easy does it. Especially if you are not used to extra fiber. I now take 5g 5 times a day. It took me 6 weeks to work up to this dose. I’ve tried different brands of Acacia and NOW seems to be the best. Better than the tummy stuff. Dissolves pretty easy. Highly recommend.

Acacia is a gentle, tasteless fiber powder that can be added to smoothies or oatmeal. It promotes health in digestion and elimination.
Nimmo Light (verified owner) –
Got this as an alternative to Metamucil and Benefiber because those products cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Turns out they are not good if you have allergies to wheat. Acacia fiber on the other hand works great for us.
It dissolves best in room temperature water. There is a flavor to it but it tastes vaguely plant-like. It’s not a bad taste but you’re not buying this stuff for flavor, are you?
buzzr (verified owner) –
This stuff works to help regulate my bowel function, but I’m only giving it 4 stars because it takes a while to dissolve in my morning orange juice. I have to add it to the juice, stir it up, then I make my eggs/toast, then stir a few more times—let it sit, then stir again. After about 10 minutes, it’s pretty much dissolved, but occasionally, I’ll get a slimey glob of the acacia fiber.

I’ve started adding 2 tablespoons of 911healty Acacia Fiber to my morning whey protein shake. I just add the powder to my whey, before adding milk, and then shake it all up in a blender bottle. It mixes cleanly and there’s no additional flavor, and I get the fiber boost that I desperately need (I have been diagnosed with IBS, ulcerative colitis, and gluten intolerance in the last 10 years – the gluten intolerance is the only one that really remains at this point). I’ve also tried it in plain bottled iced tea and Crystal Light (just add it to the bottle and shake well, maybe let sit for a few minutes then re-shake), and it’s completely unnoticeable. I haven’t noticed any exceedingly unpleasant side effects so far, and I’ve been using this for about 3-4 weeks now. I just ordered my second container yesterday, after purchasing the first one locally (at a MUCH higher price – holy cow, was I surprised to find it at less than half that price on Amazon). It’s an affordable, effective, non-irritating source of extra fiber to meet my goals when my normal diet just doesn’t cut it.

The taste isn’t the best but you’ll get over it after awhile
Works well

I have been taking this product first thing in the morning everyday and within an hour of taking it it delivers. I am on psychiatric meds and think that that has been the root of the problem for a while, but with Acacia it even helps me with meds and all. I don’t deliver a solid one though, its mainly a group of them. Rarely do I deliver two solid ones, but not big ones. I’ve been taking this for about two weeks and one day I didn’t go the whole day.

I love the stuff, I put it right in my coffee every morning, I don’t taste it , no grittiness, nothing, and it works great for my digestion. What I don’t understand is why the price fluctuates so much… One day im paying $28, the next time I go to order it it’s $44, really?! If you think I’m going to pay that much……never, I just wait until the price gets back to normal.

I was having stomach spasms and major diarrhea for a couple weeks. I lost 15 pounds quickly. Hail married and bought this in 911healty. Immediately it glued my poop together and gave me satisfying solid poop. Stomach spasms stopped and I was given relief. I now take it everyday mixed into my coffee and eat a little something with it. Thankful to feel good again and will continue to buy. Thanks!

I’ve been using this (1 TBS) each morning for about 4 days now. I haven’t noticed any significant changes to my bloating or bowel movements just yet, but it might be too early to tell.
I find that I don’t need to mix it with anything other than hot water – it tastes just like you’re sipping on a nice tea! And the best part is, it keeps me SUPER full which is helpful during days where I’m Intermittent Fasting. As someone who is always grazing and snacking (out of pure boredom or procrastination) I’m really thankful that this exists to quell my constant appetite!

Takes a bit to dissolve, but otherwise a good fiber. Plus it has prebiotics. I’ve been drinking acacia everyday and it has helped a lot with my digestive health. Not much of a flavor to to, so you can also add it to other drinks.
Lissette (verified owner) –
This isn’t a miracle supplement but I noticed day one that it kick started things. It does not mix easily into hot products such as coffee, rather it makes a stick residue. Works better to out in a smoothie and blend it up. I tried just mixing it with water but it just taste like dirt.
Eugenia (verified owner) –
I’ve just finished my first of this product (took about a month) and I have experienced a modest, but clear improvement to my digestion. I’ve also tried other prebiotics such as the one from HyperBiotics, and this one is better and cheaper. I did experience a bit of extra gas for the first few days, but this quickly subsided.
The label says “Highly soluble, mixes easily.” I think that is definitely an overstatement. However, I’ve discovered something that might help others. When you first mix this with water, it will be sludgy and clumpy. The water will be murky. However, if you stir it up and then simply let it sit for about 10-15 minutes, this improves remarkably. The water takes on an appearance more like tea, and almost all the clumps dissolve. The longer you leave it, the more complete the effect is. Sometimes I’ll mix it up first thing and then have it after breakfast, and it’s basically just tea at that point. So if the clumpiness has been bothering you, give this a try and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I’m giving it four stars for now because it’s not a cure-all and the slow dissolve is a bit of a pain. However, it’s definitely worth a try if you’re looking to improve your digestion.

I’m sure this is beneficial to take, but the powder does not mix well at all and if you add it to something like cereal, yuck! I ordered a bottle over a year ago and I have barely used it because of the nasty taste (sort of like drinking cinnamon powder in water).
Going to stick with fiber pills or dissolvable fiber powder from now on.
UPDATE 1/2/14
Since I have developed gastroenteritis disorder last summer, I discovered there weren’t many treatments for it, until I decided to try Acacia again. This powder has indeed helped my condition about 75%! Plus, I guess it doen’t taste so bad if you mix it in plain water instead of flavored drinks. Now I drink a heaping teaspoon every day and my gut feels much better. It doesn’t clump as I originally thought (must have used it in other liquid). Since this is organic, it’s more effective than Metamucil is.
J.C.O (verified owner) –
I use this powder to bulk up my protein shakes / make them more filling, and for the other benefits of fiber. It mixes very well and is pretty much imperceptible in the shake. Some fiber powders tend to upset my digestive tract, but this one seems very gentle. Good stuff

I mix this with coffee. Takes some effort to mix it, but I find it works best with hot coffee. I don’t know why, but it doesn’t work well with hot tea. Weird but true. For the price this is great! It does the job. Just don’t over do. Start slow, like a teaspoon every other day and build up to the regular dose.
Blainegirl (verified owner) –
Very happy with this product. It dissolves easily and quickly. I just add it to 1 cup almond milk and 1 serving protein powder and shake it, leave it in the fridge 10 minutes and I don’t notice it all. No added texture or flavor. Great and easy way to add more fiber to your diet.
prussianette (verified owner) –
It does not mix well into hot beverages. I choose to mix it in a small bottle of diet cranberry juice to mask the flavor and so I can continuously shake it up between sips. It did upset my stomach for the first week of using it. I do notice that my bloating has gone down and it does curb my appetite.

They say this is good for dieting. It really didn’t work for me in that sense, but it is a great means of fiber. I sprinkle a teaspoon on my oatmeal every morning and it just works. I will continue buying this. I have really gotten my money’s worth. If you have any trouble going to the bathroom, this is the stuff for you.
I still say this is great stuff. I have given some to a few friends and this is one thing I have learned. If you DEPEND on laxatives to work you, this will not help, but for the ones, like me, who just need some help going, this is an awesome product. 1/2 teaspoon every morning in my oatmeal and I will be going before the end of the day. It takes some people using it a few more days. It took me 3 days first time. I will continue to buy this product. I stopped taking 2 Metamucil’s and a stool softener EVERY DAY since I’m doing this.
Candice K (verified owner) –
Wow I love this stuff. Takes away the bloat in away nothing else does for me. It’s a little difficult to mix in to cold liquids, but it’s seriously isn’t that big of a deal in my opinion. Just a little elbow grease. If you have a very sensitive stomach like me, I recommend starting with a teaspoon and working up to a tablespoon over several weeks. Worked great for me.
MamaKD (verified owner) –
Works. Best fiber and taste amazing in my smoothies. After drinking your smoothies drink a full glass of water.
C. Moschini (verified owner) –
For those who wonder why one would buy this, apparently acacia fiber is soluble fiber that binds with saturated fat in the gut in a way that makes it hard for the body to absorb, which can reduce the total number of calories you absorb when you eat something fatty, and in particular reduce the amount of saturated fat you absorb, which may be a good thing since saturated fat absorption drives cholesterol production in your body.
I pour a cup of coffee and ~10 chocolate chips into a pot to melt them, then add a teaspoon of this and some sugar. I pour the result into foamed milk. A slightly healthier mocha.
Customer (verified owner) –
I really like this stuff. It is very similar to psyllium or konjac root powder in terms of how the fiber acts with your system. The big difference being in the taste and texture.
Psyllium can be a bit gritty and konjac can be a bit gelatinous too fast. This is a nice blend of the two. Doesn’t seem to gel super fast and it has a somewhat gum taste to it.
Easy to use and drink and definitely high fiber. Very much recommend. May be able to mix into baking and cooking easily as well but I mostly just mixed with warm water and chugged before each meal.
J. Haller (verified owner) –
Used the product to produce regularity after several hospital procedures.
Very effective! I would try very small amounts (1/4 teaspoon) per day to start with.
Dissolves completely in hot coffee if you pour the coffee over it.
