NMNH Powder: Reduced NMN Supplement as the Most Potent NAD Booster
Reduced nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMNH) is a dietary supplement ingredient that acts as an NAD+ booster with anti-aging and longevity benefits. Taking NMNH as a supplement is known to enhance NAD+ production, suppress glycolysis, TCA cycle, and cell growth. It is also known to be effective in increasing NAD+ levels in the kidney, as well as protecting renal proximal tubular cells from hypoxia, which is an important part of acute kidney injury (AKI).
What is NMNH?
NMNH is the new and reduced form of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). NMNH is newly discovered and seems to increase NAD+ more effectively than other NAD+ precursors. Studies suggest NMNH is a far more powerful NAD+ precursor.
Other terms referring to NMNH include reduced NMN, reduced β-NMN, reduced β-Nicotinamide -monophosphate, reduced Nicotinamide-1-ium-1-β-D-ribofuranoside 5′-phosphate. The CAS number for NMNH is 108347-85-9 and its molecular formula is C11H17N2O8P. NMNH appears as a white crystalline powder with a molecular weight of 335.23 g/mol.

NMNH NAD+ is a vital molecule that takes part as a redox cofactor in several metabolic reactions besides being used as a substrate in important cellular signaling in regulation pathways for energetic, genotoxic, and infectious stress. In stress conditions, NAD+ biosynthesis and levels decrease as well as the activity of consuming enzymes rises. Dietary precursors can promote NAD+ biosynthesis and increase intracellular levels, being a potential strategy for reversing physiological decline and preventing diseases. In this review, we will show the biochemistry and metabolism of NAD+ precursors NR (nicotinamide riboside) and NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide), the latest findings on their beneficial physiological effects, their interplay with gut microbiota, and the future perspectives for research in nutrition and food science fields.
Product Description
As the reduced form of NMN, NMNH is a better NAD+ enhancer than NMN and naturally exists in the kidney. NMNH can be rapidly converted into NAD+ in cells, and the rate and concentration of NMN are more than 2 times that of NMN, and it also increases the level of NAD+ in various tissues.

1.99% NMNH powder Anti-aging Reduced beta-nicotinamide mononucleotide CAS 108347-85-9 Reduced NMN NMNH1. NMNH can rapidly increase NAD+ in vitro
The researchers used both NMN and NMNH to test their ability to increase NAD+ levels in cells in vitro. Different concentrations of NMN and NMNH were added to the hepatocytes of AML12, and it was found that compared with NMN, NMNH not only significantly increased the level of NAD+ in cells, but also accelerated the rate of increase of NAD+ concentration.
2. NMNH acts as a potent NAD+ enhancer in vitro.
To further demonstrate that NMNH can act as a highly efficient NAD+ precursor, the researchers added the same concentration of NMN and NMNH.
The experimental results show that adding NMNH can increase the NAD+ content in these cells and is more effective than NMN at the same concentration.
3. NMNH can increase the concentration of NAD+ in vivo
In order to evaluate the role of NMNH and NMN in vivo, the experimenter injected C57BL/6N mice with vehicle fluid (PBS) or 250 mg/kg of NMN/NMNH, followed by blood collection (1, 4, 20 hours), and in Tissue collection was performed 24 hours later.
The results show that NMNH can effectively increase the concentration of NAD+ in the blood, and the NAD+ level can be rapidly increased within 1 hour after supplementation, which is much higher than that of NMN. It is worth noting that the NAD+ content in the blood dropped to the basal level 4 hours after NMN supplementation, but NMNH maintained a more than 2-fold increase in NAD+ concentration within 20 hours after the first injection.
The researchers also found that NMNH increased NAD+ levels in a variety of tissues compared to NMN, with the liver (5-fold increase) and kidney (2-fold increase) having the greatest effect. Surprisingly, NMNH also significantly increased NAD+ levels in the brain, gastrocnemius muscle, brown adipose tissue and heart, something NMN could not do.
4. NMNH can repair tubular epithelial cells
NAD+ homeostasis is critical for repairing damaged epithelial cells and maintaining cellular biological activity. In particular, the researchers observed whether NMNH could protect tubular epithelial cells from hypoxia/reoxygenation injury by enhancing repair.
In normoxic environment, supplementing the same concentration of NMNH and NMN can increase the concentration of NAD+ by 5 times and 2 times respectively; in hypoxia/reoxygenation environment, NMNH and NMN can increase the NAD+ concentration higher.
After analysis, NMNH supplementation can reduce cellular damage in hypoxia/reoxygenation injury and enhance cellular repair capacity by targeting NAD+ regeneration, enhancing mitochondrial activity and nucleotide metabolism.
NMNH can increase the accumulation of intracellular NADH, inhibit cellular glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle), and inhibit cell growth, while NMN can only limit cellular glycolysis.

Thanks to advances in modern medicine, individuals around the world have been living longer. In addition to lower mortality and increased survival, a sustained drop in fertility has shifted the proportion of older individuals upwards. According to the World Health Organization, the world’s population of older individuals is expected to reach 2.1 billion by 2050, doubling the aged population.
A longer life, however, does not guarantee a healthy life. As we age, our organs accumulate damage and progressively decline, making us susceptible to diseases. This is why many scientists have shifted their attention towards finding ways to slowdown, prevent, or even reverse aging. If successful, so-called anti-aging therapies could reduce the prevalence of age-related disease and help us live longer and healthier lives.
Currently, one of the most promising anti-aging targets under study is a vital molecule called nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). NAD+ mediates the production of the energy our cells need to function and survive, fueling enzymes key in repairing DNA damage. As we age, this indispensable molecule progressively declines.
Improves fertility
Revitalizes Reproduction
With age comes fertility problems, especially with women. This stems from problems with oocyte (egg) quality. NMN has been shown to improve the age-related decline in oocyte quality and number, as well as female fertility . NMN also protects oocytes from toxins.
Taking NMN may provide improvements in fertility in both men and women.
As female ages, her eggs (oocytes) quality and fertility decline. Studies have shown that by supplementing with NMN, the benefits included increased ovulation, improved cell division, and the ability to achieve fertilization.
As men age, spermatogenesis (sperm production) decreases. Early studies suggest that this decline in sperm production occurs secondary to the depleting levels of NAD+ that accompany aging. This may support using NMN supplements to improve low sperm counts as men age. Furthermore, the effects of obesity on sperm quality may be mitigated by NMN’s positive effects.
Improves symptoms of serious disease
Researchers are also exploring the benefits of increased NAD levels on high blood pressure, liver health and diabetes.
Inside the body, NAD+ produced by NMN supplements stimulates the activity of mitochondria, microscopic organelles that are vital to our metabolism. The powerhouses of the cells, mitochondria transform glucose and oxygen into cellular energy – without them, cells would lack energy and die.
NAD+ NMNH also activates sirtuins, a family of proteins that repair our DNA and regulate cellular homeostasis. Each time our cells divide, the caps on the ends of our DNA strands become slightly shorter; this fraying and shortening damage our DNA, but sirtuins reduce this process by stabilizing these caps, or telomeres. Studies in mice show that feeding them NMN can elongate telomeres, offsetting the risk of DNA damage.
Interestingly, sirtuins are NAD-dependent, which means they can’t function properly without it. However, as NAD production increases, so too does sirtuin activity.
Promotes Organ Health
In addition to slowing down aspects of the aging brain, vasculature, muscle, heart, metabolism, and eye, NMN has also been shown to rejuvenate bone stem cells and promote bone formation. It also reverses intestinal aging, protects against age-related kidney deterioration, and inhibits the onset of liver fibrosis. Thus, NMN also slow aspects of aging bone, intestines, kidney and liver.
Enhances Maintenance of DNA Repair
Our DNA codes for the building blocks of our cells but accumulates damage as we age. Repairing DNA damage can prevent age-related diseases. NAD+ fuels enzymes called sirtuins — sometimes thought of as the guardians of our healthspan. Sirtuins play a key role in repairing DNA.
Also, each time our cells divide, the DNA at the ends of our chromosomes (telomeres) grow shorter. At a certain point, this telomere shortening begins to damage our genes and cells. Sirtuins slow this process by stabilizing telomere length.
Since sirtuins rely upon NAD+ to function, there has been an effort to enhance sirtuin activity through NAD+ boosting methods. Along these lines, studies have demonstrated that feeding NMN activates sirtuins. NMN also repairs DNA damage resulting from radiation and old age. Furthermore, in humans, NMN increases telomere length.
NMN studies from institutes like Harvard University and Washington University have shown that supplementing with the molecule or enhancing NMN synthesis promotes longevity and health during aging. Sinclair and colleagues found that when aged drank NMN-infused water, their running endurance almost doubled. Further studies have demonstrated that injecting with NMN preserves cognition during aging. Moreover, a study from Imai and colleagues indicates that an upsurge in NMN synthesis more than doubles the remaining lifespan.
Could Treat Eye Aging and Injury
Macular degeneration is an age-related disease involving the degeneration of a region of the retina that allows us to see clearly. Thus, more severe forms of macular degeneration can cause blindness. NMN has been shown to repair the mitochondrial dysfunction associated with macular degeneration.
